| Course schedule – 2nd semester 2011 |
September 12 - 16, 2011:
Visual stage design and video board design/Handling live and recorded imagesby Fred Vaillant (BE) - Margin’halle, Maison Folie, Mons (BE)How to integrate projected images in a stage design? What technical resources and methodologies should be employed? This workshop will allow the various aspects of the projected image in theater to be explored, whether this image is captured live or has already been recorded. >> Register >> October 10 - 14, 2011: MAX/MSP in the performing arts - Initial trainingby Philippe Montémont (FR) - Room 5/6, TechnocITé, Carré des Arts, Mons (BE)For several years now, Max has established itself as the leading software program for running the interactive processes in the performing arts. This workshop is a practical guide to using Max. In the context of a project, the participants will create mini-applications (patches) that will be interconnected via a local network. These applications will take into account the constraints inherent to live performances. >> Register >> November 14 - 18, 2011: Isadora/Stage design for sounds and bodies in movementby Armando Menicacci (FR) - Room 5/6, TechnocITé, Carré des Arts, Mons (BE)The latest version of the program Isadora offers new options for treating sound and video. After a discovery o the basic principles of Isadora, this workshop starts with the spectator’s choreography and offers an exploration of poetry and interactive writing using the body in movement as well as various sound sources. Then, what needs to be done is to check the heterogeneity of perceptions of space and the transcription of the gesture in the interface. >> Register >> December 12 - 16, 2011: Real time interactivity: material and software aspectsby Florence Corin, Zandrine Chiri - Room 5/6, TechnocITé, Carré des Arts, Mons (BE)Real time interactivity is used in the visual arts, performing arts or in music. After examining a panorama of options for capture and action, combined with a discovery of the various programs for managing sound, image, video and real-time 3D (Isadora, Max-MSP, Pure data), attendees will be invited to implement their own themes in a short project. >> Register >> The new directions for 2012:1 – The workshops. In addition to the ‘basics’ (Isadora, Max MSP, etc.) the CECN intends to deal with their use as a “dramaturgical support” to a work, through the setting up of workshop-style sessions and encounters with artists such as Michèle Noiret, David Bobee, Ryogi Ikeda… (Program available end 2011) 2 – Open source The use of freeware sometimes leads to a thirst for freedom as well as to a strong political commitment on the part of contemporary artists. In 2012, the CECN joins in this creative thrust via the setting up of new workshops dedicated to freeware. (Processing, Puredata, Openframeworks…) 3 –CECN certification The omnipresence of technology in the stage arts compels technicians working in the performing arts to stay abreast of any high-tech developments. CECN certification is the opportunity for these technicians to review their knowledge and to come to grips with the skills of the future. This certification will be the opportunity for them to highlight their technological know-how.
