Art Vivant-Science-Publics différenciés


La bourse du CECN récompense un projet d’art vivant original qui contribue à créer, à améliorer ou à intensifier les liens, la communication, l’interaction et le dialogue avec des individus d’une communauté différenciée en faisant appel à de nouvelles technologies ou à un usage innovant de technologies existantes.

Le lauréat de l’appel à projets « Art-Science-Publics différenciés » est le projet Blind Scape (Sound Delta Collection) du collectif MU / Kasper Toeplitz.

Une architecture de sons, interactive et évolutive, synthétisée en temps réel et conçue de façon collective avec la participation de personnes déficientes visuelles, est présentée dans un espace plongé dans l’obscurité où les visiteurs, par leurs déplacements, influencent la nature des sons diffusés. Un jeu de règles d’interactions met en œuvre des réactions sonores provoquées par les spectateurs comme partie intégrante de la composition. Au fil d’une journée, les spectateurs découvrent à chaque visite une œuvre en perpétuelle évolution, se modifiant selon les scénarii d’interaction. Un groupe de personnes déficientes visuelles participera aux différentes phases de réalisation en collaboration directe avec le compositeur.

GRANTS from the Centre des Écritures Contemporaines et Numériques

Convinced that technological innovations can bring a positive contribution to society, this request for proposals appeals to all artists aiming make art and technology a tool allowing a more human approach.

The CECN grant awards an original performing arts project which contributes to creating, improving and deepening bonds, communication, interaction and dialogue among individuals in a community concerned with challenges of calling upon new technology or the innovative use of existing technology.

The request for proposals is aimed at artists themselves and not directly cultural, industrial or scientific organizations.


The artist selected must speak French.

Our objectives:
1- Offer experiences of artistic reception to people confronted with the challenges of going beyond the strict system of verbal language (surtitles, oral or written transcription, etc);
2- Allow innovative artistic projects to be created and to be co-produced and distributed;
3- Identify unresolved issues from both the theoretical and practical perspectives;
4- Facilitate a meeting among artists, creators and a particular community.



With these objectives in mind, CECN provides the selected project with the following:

1- A residency period at la lagarenumérique in Val de Sambre from August 20 – September 7, 2012.
2- A residency period in Margin’Halle at la Maison Folie in  Mons Octobre 1-24, 2012.
3- Stage and technical equipment.
4- A technician intermittently through the residency period.
5- Housing during the entire production period (maximum of six people).
6- €25,000 (including per diems, transportation for the team and additional technical equipment rental if needed).
7- Pubic performance time during the CECN festival in October 2012.
8- Organization of meeting between the artistic team and its targeted community (to define according to the project).

Candidate must submit the following:


1- A five-page maximum description of the project including the targeted community, the innovative value of the initiative and the contribution of technology used.  
2- Detail technical specifications.
3- A complete production budget including the €25,000 (per diems, transportation and rental equipment included) for the grant.
4- A production calendar including the details of work to accomplish during the two residency periods offered by CECN and lagarenumérique.


Submitted projects need not already be under production and do not require other partners if the conditions offered by CECN are sufficient for the production of the intended project.
